Stillness doesn't stay still
To start with there was Aygun, Errol and myself up on the roof and Errol's 2 daughters exploring the block and creating wonderful things with bits of timber. While Aygun and I put on purlins Errol got to work with a handsaw trimming the ends off rafters in preparation for fascia attachment. It was a productive morning, and as they got ready to leave Natasha and Brenda arrived with lunch. Fabulous!
So a lunch break was enjoyed before I went back up the ladder and then Tim and Katrina arrived with Ethan and Claire. They haven't seen the house since about February when we had just started the floor so a lot has happened since then! And then to top it all off Sonny and Deb with Alinta and Solomon drove up. It was starting to be like that episode ofSeinfeld.
Well it was great to see everyone but I had to get back to work eventually (ay I gotta house to build!) and the day continued without drama. The next day the wind came up and roof work became more difficult, especially getting timber up on the the roof by myself. I started to look at the outriggers that I have to fit to the south side rafters to extend them beyond the beam. Tuesday was only a half day, due to extreme weather and Wednesday was a no build day. I took the chance to do a little planning and make a phone call or two.
Thursday I headed back up the ladder and put up the last purlins for the north side, then started to do the outriggers, setting up a string line. Again the weather intervened but it was a very productive day. The plumbers were in today finishing off some black water piping and installing our grey water unit. It's been a good week. It's been a windy week. Getting closer to that frame inspection ...
